Our Story

Established as a Community Interest Company in 2019, Community Vox brings community arts to the people of Surrey and the South East through performance and education. We believe that everyone has the right to express their creative sides through music, dance and visual arts for their own enjoyment and wellbeing regardless of age, background and ability. We see community arts playing an important role in the social cohesion of communities, and building bridges across the gaps of understanding that divide us.

Community Vox Directors

Anna Tabbush | Artistic Director

As well as masterminding Community Vox events Anna also leads workshops at most of them. Anna co-founded SingFest in 2007 with fellow choir leader Rod Edbrooke.

Anna is a well-established choir leader, published composer & arranger, singer & multi-instrumentalist. She runs a number of community choirs including Guildford Vox and Horsell Community Choir.

When she isn’t performing, creating or teaching music you can usually find her walking in the woods near her home with her crazy spaniel Finton.

Ross Adamson | Website and Stewarding Coordinator

Ross coordinates our website, IT systems and communication procedures for Community Vox. He also has helped organise our stewarding system as well as being Head Steward for several Community Vox events.

He is currently a grower at an agroecological farm in Devon and a special education needs teacher.

In his spare time he sings Shape Note and with ‘The Lost Sound’ in Buckfastleigh, Devon. He is a keen Morris dancer with Brighton Morris and Harry Taylor’s Morris.

Barry Pollard | Governance

Barry is responsible for keeping company records, policies and other documentation up to date as well as enjoying stewarding our different events to get people singing together.

Barry has been a student (several times), research scientist, administrator and teacher, as well as running a business playing boardgames.

In his spare time Barry enjoys Morris dancing, currently with Quaggy Morris, folking it up at small festivals and Folk Camps, and looking for his next ‘career’ move.

Peter Rendle | Catering

Peter leads on catering, supplies and logistics. A professed non-singer, he organises cheffing at our events and works with the stewarding team to provide the top quality BBQ that helps define the Singfest experience.

In his day job Peter works for a Global Financial Services company enabling software developers as part an Agile DevOps team.

When not working Peter enjoys cooking and tinkering with computers. His favourite food is cheese.

Amanda Welsh | Finance

Amanda leads on all things finance for Community Vox and provides finance logistics and accounts for all our events.

Amanda is the finance administrator for a national charity for part of the week and works in an office for the rest.

When not involved in finance she tends to go walking, cycling or climbing, and loves good quality chocolate.
